Professional Book Compliance & Rights Management
Formal US Copyright Registration and Library of Congress LCCN registration
Your partner in securing your literary legacy and ensuring library-readiness.
Navigating the bureaucratic hurdles of the U.S. Copyright Office and the Library of Congress can be time-consuming for an author. As your Designated Filing Agent, we handle the technical submissions so you can focus on your craft. We provide the professional oversight typically reserved for major publishing houses, ensuring your work is fully protected and properly catalogued for national discovery.
Services Offered:
- Official U.S. Copyright Registration: While copyright is essentially automatic upon creation, formal registration is still required to file infringement lawsuits, seek statutory damages, and file for legal fees associated with the lawsuit. We manage the entire Electronic Copyright Office (eCO) application process, including file uploads and fee processing on your behalf. Without the formal registration, your copyright only grants exclusive rights to copy, distribute, and create derivative works. Authors can still send DMCA take-down notices to online service providers to remove infringing content, but an author cannot file an infringement lawsuit in federal court.
- LCCN/PCN Acquisition: We secure your Library of Congress Control Number (LCCN)
through the Preassigned Control Number (PCN) Program. This essential identifier makes your book discoverable to librarians and book dealers across the country. This is then listed on the copyright page of your book. - Mandatory Deposit Management: Following publication, we facilitate the mandatory delivery of physical copies to the Library of Congress to finalize your LCCN and fulfill federal legal requirements. We will give you all mailing and shipping information required.
Why Choose an Independent Agent?
- Retain Full Independence: Unlike service-based publishers, I do not take a percentage of your royalties or own your publishing imprint. You remain the Publisher of Record.
- Accuracy & Compliance: Small errors in metadata during the LCCN application can lead to permanent rejection or cataloguing delays. I ensure all technical data—from ISBNs to page counts—is submitted correctly.
- Professional Presence: Having an agent-filed LCCN gives your self-published work the same professional footprint as books from “Big Five” publishers, increasing your credibility with libraries and retailers.
You must have completed the Copyright and LCCN intake form for the book prior to making payment. If this order is received prior to the form, we will give you 10 days to submit the form or be refunded.
